The Most Cursed Of Hands

Hi, I'm still alive. I've been pretty busy, busy moving, busy writing, busy working. I've recently moved across the entire country, and during my downtime I've been writing a small hexcrawl for my group to play as a mini-campaign when I visit them over breaks, and for a few new players I've met already. It started off as a simple hexcrawl featuring an awful forest and witch hunters, then ambition got the better of me so I added a fleshy dungeon. Consider this my belated addition to Nate Treme's Pamphlet Dungeon Jam . Here you go, the setting along with a few design notes further down this page (I recommend you read the second PDF in the folder first): The Most Cursed Of Hands I'll admit, the product isn't done-done yet, it's writing is a tad unorganized and its formatting could use a little bit of work. It's kinda hard making a pamphlet because you need to allow yourself to not give all  the information you want on a location, just enough...

Crawlspace

At the moment I run a very dungeon-crawl-y type of "campaign", if you even want to call it that. The players see, they delve, they conquer (most of the time). It's simple, I love it and everybody has a fun time. Now, prepping full-blown dungeons in a more normal campaign is a bit harder if that isn't your specialty. What I've found especially hard is prepping a small, dungeon-like location when there are only 30 minutes until the session starts. I've recently found a fun little trick/take/whateveryouwanttocallit in making simple dungeons without needing maps, while still having a fun physical representation. Just keep in mind, without maps this is going to be a bit more subjective in description than objective. Crawlspace Method ( Blackbeard Banners ) 1. Grab your nearest D6. On the D6, choose a start  and an end  on the dice, if you're indecisive just choose 1 as the start and 6 as the end, or roll for both. Just keep in mind that the start and en...

A New Year, A New Adventure

With every new year comes a multitude of new adventures, whether it be in real life or in an RPG. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a proud person. I occasionally get into writing ruts and look online for adventure seeds for ideas. Most are pretty generic, many don't provide a good location for adventure, and some feel incomplete, even for something as broad as an adventure seed. To celebrate the birth of a new year, here are a few adventure seeds of increasing weirdness. Just so you guys and gals know what's coming and what I think when creating adventures. When creating the framework for an adventure I usually ask myself the following ten questions that don't really need to be answered in any specific order: The Occasion/Dungeon: Where is the dungeon? What is the dungeon? What is the safe haven near the dungeon? Is there one? The Speaker/DM: Who is the main antagonist? What does the antagonist want? What tools does the antagonist have to achieve ...

The Leviathan Is Coming! (Next Sunday, I Promise)

Oh dear, so I was supposed to have some content. Unluckily for me, the last two weeks were some of the busiest I've had in school quite yet (you wouldn't believe what they put us kiddos through these days). Anyway, this week I should have the mini-campaign that I promised in the last post finished. Luckily, though, I had lots of time to plan, so I should theoretically have something good to offer. Anyway, this post has some gameable content, trust me. Here is a sneak-peek of a region in my mini-campaign in the making called "The Cliffs". The island itself will have three regions that have the following: 2 minor points of interest that take up about half a page in a two column format. They each have a few tables so there is some added gameplay in those regards, a session might even be able to revolve completely around one minor point of interest if the GM makes it appealing enough and is good at improvising. (Of course, the tables serve as an aid for improv, too.) ...

Stained In Blood And Honey

Hello and welcome to my quaint cranny in the vast ocean of OSR content, glad to have you here! As my introductory post, I'll be showing off the first adventure I've ever made, Stained In Blood And Honey. As some backstory, I'm pretty new to the OSR scene and have been lurking for a while. With the recent shutdown of Google+, I've broken my lurking status by introducing myself to  Chris McDowall's Discord Server  (all of you should join it, it's a great little community) and have introduced my first piece of content to the world. So far Stained In Blood And Honey has gotten good reception (which I wasn't expecting, being so new to the RPG scene as a whole, and especially new to the OSR scene) If you need a solid hook, the adventure has: Very little prep time needed to run (the adventure is only 3 pages, including the addendum content that is completely optional to use) 3 tables for when you need to know exactly who that poor disposable hireling is or wh...
